When it comes to encounters with the law, both male and female celebs are known to have their little share. However, when it comes to spending time with the jailer, male celebs are known to have better stories to tell.

Here, however, are some ex-con female celebs that have more than a thing to say about life behind bars:

Remy Ma

In 2008, Remy Ma was sentenced to 8 years in prison after a shooting incidence that could have seen her spending a maximum of 25 years behind bars.

The rapper ended up serving six years of her sentence as she was released in 2014. She is one of the few female celebs to spend that long a time behind bars.

Teresa Giudice

With her husband, the Real Housewives star spent close to a year in prison for tax evasion and hiding some of their assets in filing for bankruptcy. She was charged with her husband for fraud and false statement in 2013 and in 2014 they pleaded guilty after an earlier plea of not guilty. Teresa was jailed on January 5, 2015, and was released on December 23, 2015.

Paris Hilton

In most things that have to do with ex-con female celebs, Paris has a way of joining, even if for a brief period. The Dj was stopped in 2007 while driving with a suspended license. She would be caught a month after, doing the same thing, only this time it was in the night and her car had no headlights. More so, she was driving in a 35-mph zone, at 70 mph. Paris got herself sentenced to 45 days in prison for the offense.

This would not be the end of her problems with the law, as in 2010 she was arrested for alleged possession of cocaine. She would go ahead to plead guilty to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to a year probation, community service of 200 hours, a fine of $2000. She was also sentenced to undergo a drug-abuse treatment.

Lohan has a rather long story with everything. With the law, she was arrested in 2007 for driving under the influence of Alcohol.  After spending 45 days in rehab, she was rearrested for the same offense, driving with a suspended license, and possession of cocaine. She was sentenced to 10 days behind bars but ended up serving only 84 minutes as a result of overcrowding.

The actress spent two weeks in prison in 2010, after being sentenced to 90 days for failing to attend her weekly alcohol education classes as ordered by the court. She was released earlier again due to prison overcrowding.

Lindsay would go on to have more problems with the law and spend some little more time behind bars.

Like most other female celebs that served jail terms, Rodriguez went in for driving under the influence as well as with a suspended license. There was as well a case of hit and run, all of which earned her 48 hours behind bars in 2004.

In 2006 she was sentenced to 60 days behind bars for DUI and violation of an earlier probation. She was, however, released the same day she was taken to prison as a result of overcrowding.

The actress spent 18 days of an 180-day jail sentence in 2007. She was sentenced this time around for violating her probation.

Lauryn Hill

Like her friend Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie is one of the many ex-con female celebs. The fashion designer and actress has been arrested more than a couple of times for offenses including brawling and DUI.

She, however, got to spend 82 minutes of a four-day sentence handed to her in 2007 after she was arrested for DUI. Her early release was as a result of prison overcrowding.

Piper Kerman

From others, Kerman’s case is slightly different. She became a celebrity as a result of her imprisonment. After being indicted in 1998 for laundering and drug trafficking, Kerman was sent to prison in 2004. After spending 13 months of her 15 months sentence, she wrote a memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison. That shot her to fame.

Others including Fiona Apple, Amanda Bynes, Snooki, and Zsa Zsa Gabor spent between some hours and a night for various minor offenses, behind bars.
