Not everyone can survive in Tinseltown, yet some of our favorite celebrities have survived despite being told they were not good enough for Hollywood.
They were called too ugly, too fat, too short and many other phrases that perfectly capture the vanity that runs wild in Hollywood.

We’re literally going to start with Sarah Jessica Parker because in a nasty move by Maxim, they voted Sarah as the ‘Unsexiest Woman Alive’.
I mean, what was the necessity of this?
This woman? Really?
Sarah Jessica Parker is an American actress and designer who is known for her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw on Sex And The City for which she won two Emmy awards – one as a producer for the show and one as an actress.
She also won four Golden Globe Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.
She has also starred in the Sex and The City Movie, The First Wives Club, L.A. Story, Failure to Launch, Ed Wood, Honeymoon In Vegas and Hocus Pocus.
As you can see, her movies have gone ahead to make millions. Not bad for someone who was originally thought as not pretty enough and not good enough for Hollywood.
Kat Dennings
Kat Dennings who was born on the 13th of June 1986, was once told she needed to fix her teeth, get a tan and to lose weight if she wanted to make it in Hollywood.
I think it is safe to say we can no longer trust these casting agents opinions if Meryl Streep was once called too ugly for a role in King Kong, and Jessica Chastain was once told she needed to go blonde if she wanted to be getting work.
But back to Kat…
Thankfully, the actress did not listen as she has gone on to appear in several blockbuster movies just the way she is.
Kat has since starred in Big Momma’s House 2, The House Bunny, Charlie Bartlett, Raise our Voice (with Hilary Duff), Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and has appeared in two Marvel movies – Thor and Thor: The Dark World.
She is also the star of CBS sitcom – 2 Broke Girls alongside Beth Behrs.
Jennifer Lawrence
The irony – the girl who was once called too fat for Hollywood has now become the highest earning actress in the game.
Everyone’s favorite Kentucky-born ‘it-girl’, Jennifer Lawrence, was discovered in New York City when she was just 14; as a result, she moved to Los Angeles soon after.
Her first relevant role came when she joined The Bill Engvall Show as a main cast member.
However, her big break came in 2010, she was cast as a poverty-stricken teenager in Winter’s Bone.
Her performance in the movie received widespread critical acclaim and won her her first Oscar nomination as a result.
She was later cast as Mystique in X-Men: First Class and has since reprised this role in later X-Men installments.
Her role as Mystique as well as her casting in the Hunger Games film franchise as Katniss Everdeen morphed her into one of the most famous actresses in the world.
Her roles in Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and Joy solidified her place in the business.
She is currently the youngest actress to acquire four Academy Award nominations.
Pretty impressive for someone who was once thought not good enough for Hollywood.

Chrissy Teigen
Believe it or not, the supermodel and wife to John Legend, was literally told she was too fat to appear in one of Forever 21‘s photoshoot.
Yes, really.
Earlier on in her career, after being hired by the company (Forever 21), critiques were then sent to her agency about her weight.
Thankfully, Sports Illustrated did not agree with them.
Despite their critiques, Chrissy has gone on to have a wildly successful career – especially with Sports Illustrated. She first appeared in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2010 with fellow models, Lily Aldrige and Nina Agdal.
She has also appeared on the cover of Maxim’s calender as well as appearing in campaigns for Olay, Gillete, Skullcandy, Nike, Beach Bunny Swimwear, XOXO, Gap Factory and this is just to mention a few.
She is currently the host of the very popular Lip Sync Battle beside LL Cool J.
I think it’s safe to say that she did pretty well for herself.
Lea Michele
You know we live in a harsh world when a 13-year-old is told to get a nose job, but yes, that is what happened to Lea Michele.
Not only was she told to get a nose job but early on in her career, she was constantly told that she wasn’t pretty enough to be in show business.
Thankfully the actress didn’t listen and has gone on to have a very successful career in Hollywood.
Her big break came when she was cast as Rachel Berry on the widely successful show Glee.
Her performance as Rachel Berry threw her into international spotlight and she became a role model for many young girls.
Since 2015, she has appeared as Hester Ulrich on the fox show Scream Queens.
Her frequent work in films and television proves that Hollywood is just where she is supposed to be.
